Lab comments:
The lab is searching for a new standard against which to compare. The scientific literature does not provide an easy GC/MS analysis to compare against.
This one was a challenging one because there isn't any GCMS data for metformin.

There is an article online analyzing metformin using a derivitization that we don't have, and the rest with LC/MS. Our LC/MS is probably six or more months away from installation.

The structure seems like it can, theoretically, be easily seen on GCMS, I guess with our current GCMS and no online data, its harder than it looks.

We're working to obtain a valid standard to compare against.
Jan 20, 2016. The lab has tested a pharmaceutical metformin tablet and has stated that at this point they can not positively identify it using their standard techniques.
Unidentifed Substances
This sample contains an unidentified chemical. We do not have a matching substance in our lab's internal database and have not yet been able to identify the chemical(s).

We need the help of outside expert analytical chemists and drug geeks to determine what substance matches the mass spectrum (MS) fingerprint. The lab's GC/MS graphs can be viewed by clicking on the thumbnails on this page.
